![]() Robert Linxe used to say: “Chocolatier is the profession of an artisan. There, enjoying each sip of my tea, I feel like time stops for a moment while I discover all the subtlety of flavors of the chocolate which has been chosen for me. Not any chocolate but the one which pairs perfectly with the tea you’ve chosen. They have a great selection of Mariage Frères teas which I adore too and each tea comes with one chocolate. As in Paris, I love to go there to buy chocolates or pastries but what I love most is going there for a chocolate break! I usually sit at one of their tables and I order a tea with a chocolate pastry or sometimes just a tea. When I arrived in New York, I was delighted to find out that La Maison du Chocolat has several boutiques here too! I must confess I only know the Rockfeller Center boutique in NYC and never visited their other locations. At that time, I learnt that tasting fine chocolate is a full sensory experience that not only pleases the palate but the other senses as well. Even if, most of the time, the chocolates were not for me, the smell in that store and the passion with which the staff answered my many questions were enough to fill me with joy. ![]() I was won over by their chocolate truffles at the first bite and then by their ganaches and pralines! I loved to go to their store on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré whenever I wanted to buy a special gift. My love story with La Maison du Chocolat began years ago when I lived in Paris. I highly recommend this mod to any fans of the older Halo games. It does require a CD key for the PC version of Halo, but lucky for you new copies are just $20 on Amazon! Everything else, you'll find on the subreddit. Honestly, I could go on forever about how cool this mod is, but you can just try it yourself! You can find download links and more info at their official subreddit here. Pillar of Autumn and Halo both felt at least twice as long, and there's even some new voice acting! Having just played up through the opening of Truth and Reconciliation, I can tell you the levels are significantly longer than the originals. The rest of the game will be releasing at a later date, but what's on offer here is substantial. It's packed in as a bonus with SPV3, but isn't a part of the actual campaign. The Silent Cartographer: Evolved was a map released earlier in the year by a different group within CMT, and for much of that group it was their final map. You probably noticed that it's only the first half of the game, and there are 2 versions of Silent Cartographer. You can check out the same channel as the video above(the channel of the SPV3 team lead) for more gameplay from the mod. The mod incorporates features from all of Bungie's Halo games, as well as quite a few original additions. That trailer should give a pretty good idea of what you're in for. But as LeVar Burton told us, you don't have to take my word for it! Ever wanted to play through the original Halo fighting Brutes and piloting Anti-Air Wraiths? Ever wish you had ODSTs with you? Want to use weapons from the later games? SPV3 has it all and more. They've added in content that was cut from several Halo games, as well as weapons/enemies/mechanics from later Halo games. It's not just a simple reskin either, it's practically a whole new game. SPV3 stands for Singleplayer Version 3, and is CMT's attempt at completely remaking the original Halo. Over the years a group called the Custom Mapping Team (CMT) have put out a number of popular maps, and now a group within CMT has put out something really brilliant. This version of the game has no singleplayer by default, but allows for the use of modded maps in multiplayer. For anyone not familiar with Halo PC, there was a version of the game called "Halo: Custom Edition" released way back in 2004. 4K videos are crazy, man.I'm sort of new here, so forgive me if this first post is a bit sloppy, but I just wanted to put the word out about this awesome Halo PC mod that just released today. I hope to have them all uploaded before the end of April, but we shall see. It may be a bit of time (most likely a few days) between each consecutive upload in this playlist. "First off, these videos take a little over a 24 hours per upload. Total deaths in playlist so far = 1 Save Cancel Some of these deaths may be funny, or just downright stupid to watch. I'll tell you how many I have, and when they happen. If you want to acquire this mod for yourself, click this link:įor fun, I am also going to include all of my deaths in these missions. I don't suggest watching all of it unless you're really interested in the mod, or can't play these missions yourself. They should be from about 25 minutes, all the way up to and over an hour long. These missions are quite long, and I haven't edited the videos at all. This is mostly aimed at those who can't actually play it themselves or people who want to see what it looks like in glorious 4K resolution with smooth as butter 60 frames per second. So, I present to you all, my playthrough of CMT's SPV3 for Halo: Custom Edition! Hello all, and welcome to my first actual series of videos! I decided that since most of my stuff on the channel is Halo content, I should probably start uploading some bigger and cooler things. ![]() First off, these videos take a little over a 24 hours per upload. ![]() As a modern and minimalist school of design, the style necessitates visual cleanliness. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that mid-century modern interiors require plenty of spacing between furniture pieces. For example, the common starburst lamp features exposed bulbs on straight rods radiating out of a center. Material-wise, mid-century modern lamps are constructed from brushed steel in silver, copper or gold tones. The contrasting angles offer the lamps both elegance and boldness. Mid-century modern floor lamps typically feature geometric lines combined with round, curved contour. Rugs and decor is one area where mid-century modern interiors offer a lot of flexibility. For example, a persian rug can blend very well with mid-century modern furniture. Alternatively, if these patterns don’t appeal to you, feel free to choose a rug or throw pillow with just a solid color or even patterns from a completely different design style. When choosing the rug or decor for your mid-century modern home, you can opt for a pure approach or a more hybrid method. Selecting colors is always the first step to planning your decor, since it influences your furniture and decor selection. We’ll cover more of this in detail later in the article. For example, investigate the individual furniture that they picked out, identify the color schemes, or the spacing between pieces.Īlso, keep in mind that great interior design draws bits and pieces of influence from different interior design styles, so some of these examples have elements that are outside of the mid-century boundaries. ![]() Below are some great examples to give you some inspiration and ideas – try to find some on your own on. ![]() In medieval Spain, people would bring bring wine and pan de ánimas (spirit bread) to the graves of their loved ones on All Souls Day they would also cover graves with flowers and light candles to illuminate the dead souls’ way back to their homes on Earth. Some of these customs survived even after the rise of the Roman Catholic Church, which (unofficially) adopted them into their celebrations of two Catholic holidays, All Saints Day and All Souls Day, celebrated on the first two days of November. In ancient Europe, pagan celebrations of the dead also took place in the fall, and consisted of bonfires, dancing and feasting. This inspired the contemporary Day of the Dead practice in which people leave food or other offerings on their loved ones’ graves, or set them out on makeshift altars called ofrendas in their homes. In Nahua rituals honoring the dead, traditionally held in August, family members provided food, water and tools to aid the deceased in this difficult journey. Only after getting through nine challenging levels, a journey of several years, could the person’s soul finally reach Mictlán, the final resting place. ![]() ![]() Upon dying, a person was believed to travel to Chicunamictlán, the Land of the Dead. The Aztecs and other Nahua people living in what is now central Mexico held a cyclical view of the universe, and saw death as an integral, ever-present part of life. The roots of the Day of the Dead, celebrated in contemporary Mexico and among those of Mexican heritage in the United States and around the world, go back some 3,000 years, to the rituals honoring the dead in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. It is the job of a guano worker to collect sea bird excrement to be used as fertilizer. In one case, Andean Condors could be found at sea bird colonies in Peru, but there they came into conflict with guano workers. As with many raptor species, these birds are shot and poisoned, or some die due to a changing landscape and a lack of adequate food. They are endangered in Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador and vulnerable in many other parts of South America. The Andean Condor is suffering widespread declines, especially in the northern part of its range. Temperatures in the Andes are much cooler, so scientists believe that certain properties in the uric acid help disinfect their legs to help keep them clean. Like the California Condor, the Andean Condor poops on its own legs from time to time! Scientists believe that California Condors do this to help them stay cool in warm weather. ![]() They sun to stay warm and to keep their feathers healthy. Condors spread their wings to allow the most sunlight to reach as many of their feathers as possible. Condors, like many birds and even humans, enjoy the feel of the warm sun on their backs. ![]() If you are ever lucky enough to see an Andean Condor, you may notice that they often perch with their wings outspread, sunning themselves. These areas are up high to help keep them safe from ground predators. They can be found in relatively large numbers, roosting on inaccessible cliffs and rocky outcrops. Males have yellow eyes, while the female's eyes are red.Īt night, Andean Condors all get together to sleep. Biologists take photos of the male condors and learn to identify individuals by the patterns of wrinkles on their combs and faces. Male condors are born with this comb and each one is unique. The males are larger than the females and they have a comb on top of their heads, which the females lack. Of all the New World Vultures, the Andean Condor is the only one that shows sexual dimorphism, which means there is a visible difference in size and physical characteristics between the male and the female. Juveniles are grayish-brown with no white neck ruff. People who design airplanes have used this same feature on some airplane wings.Īdult Andean Condors are unmistakable with their large black bodies, white neck ruff and featherless heads. This helps with soaring by reducing drag, or air resistance. When you see a soaring condor, notice that the tips of its wings are pointing up. They only need to flap their wings occasionally the rest of the time, they are floating on air. Soaring makes it possible for them to fly for long periods of time without expending much energy. With the longest wingspan of any raptor, Andean Condors are built for soaring and they do so effortlessly. It often soars over open grassland areas as it searches for food. ![]() This large scavenger can be seen soaring over high montane canyons and peaks throughout the Andes or along the coast in the southern part of its range. It can be found from Colombia and northwestern Venezuela, all the way south to Tierra del Fuego. Since 2010, The Peregrine Fund, as a member of the Andean Condor Working Group, has been providing scientific advice to the Ministry of Environment of Ecuador on condor conservation, and since mid-2011 conducting collaborative research on movements and habitat use of Andean Condors. Our support helps local biologists and students research and monitor wild populations and helps with captive breeding, environmental education, and community participation programs.
